Weekend Reading: Millennials & Email, The State of Email 2015, and Email Segmentation
As usual, the week has been full of email marketing news. If you’ve been looking around to see what’s happening, we’ve got you covered – we’ve rounded up three of the most interesting developments in email that can be perfect for some weekend reading:
1. Millennials & Email
Among some email marketers, there’s a worry that email is going to get replaced by something else – or just left behind in general. Millennials (Americans age 18-34) are often said to be ditching the inbox in favor of social media platforms, instead.
Looks like the naysayers are wrong – new research from the American Press Institute found that the most common digital activity among millennials is – you guessed it – email.
2. The State of Email 2015
Tis the season for annual reports – and Litmus just released a comprehensive look at how email is being used in 2015.
The State of Email 2015 details how to build responsive emails for every kind of inbox, the most popular email clients (with Apple iPhone and Gmail taking the lead), and other great statistics that can help email marketers make sense of the 2015 email marketing landscape.
3. Advanced Email Segmentation
A study cited by eMarketer from the Relevancy Group showed that the top three segmentation fields are demographic data (41%), geographic data (31%), and customer satisfaction survey data (34%). But the research also found that there’s still a long way to go when it comes to advanced email segmentation and data governance.
If you want to learn more about these topics and more, we’re hosting a webinar with BlueHornet next week on April 2 @ 1pm EST, “The Evolution of Email: Contextual Marketing and Real-Time Segmentation.” Register for the webinar to learn all about context, advanced segmentation, and how retailers are using it today!
And, most importantly, have a good weekend!
