Meet an Inker: Dan Yanega, Training Manager

Welcome to our new series, Meet an Inker! This is where you can get to know the Movable Ink team: who they are, why they’re here, and what makes them tick.

In this edition of Meet an Inker, we chatted with Dan Yanega, Training Manager in our New York office.

Background:

Dan, our Training Manager at Movable Ink, is a graduate of the University at Buffalo where he studied international business and human resources. After graduation, he relocated to his native Long Island before settling in Queens. When he is not training Movable’s next top Inkers, you’re likely to find him scoping out the best hole-in-the-wall restaurants, playing guitar, or reading a book in the park.

What brought you to Movable Ink?

The biggest thing for me was the interview process and the amount of care that a then-60 person company put into it. Meeting everyone on the team I’d interface with gave me a really strong sense of the culture of the organization.

Tell us one thing you’ve learned since you started at Movable Ink.

Oh man! To boil it down to one thing does a disservice to my time here. To keep it short, positivity and professionalism are really important in getting things done, building relationships, and growing with the company.

What’s the coolest thing that you’ve been a part of here?

The coolest thing is that this role didn’t exist until they built it for me. It’s really exciting orchestrating and building out all of the training content for new hires and evolving onboarding and continued learning and development.

What’s the best email you’ve ever received?

Before my most recent trip to Singapore, my friend in sent me a list of her favorite restaurants – the food was awesome!

What’s one tidbit that someone would be surprised to learn about you?

I ran my university radio station in college.

If you could only listen to one song forever, what would it be and why?

Beach Boys – All I Wanna Do… because all I wanna do is listen to that song! [Cue laughing emoji]

Where’s your favorite place in greater NYC?

I’m doing a cop-out because I can’t pick between these two. Toss-up between Prospect Park and the fried chicken place in my neighborhood (Ridgewood!) The best Korean fried chicken I’ve ever had, hands down.
