Last week, we ran a contest offering a contextual email makeover to one lucky #EmailGeek. Choosing a winner was not easy – we wanted to make over all of the emails!
How we chose our winner
So what was our criteria for choosing a winner? First, we were looking for a brand that already had a solid email content strategy. For instance, they needed to send emails with clear goals, and needed to send those emails consistently. Contextual marketing is the best way to get the most out of your emails – but it’s no replacement for an email content strategy!
Next, the brand had to be open to the change. We knew that during the makeover, we’d look for every available opportunity to optimize parts of the brand’s email with context.
Finally, we knew that a brand that collected data on their customers and prospects would be a huge plus. Leveraging data you already have in your emails is one of the most impactful ways to reach your audience. It’s definitely not a requirement for contextual marketing, but it does help.
