Welcome to Meet an Inker! In this edition, we caught up with Andrew Keser, Senior Product Designer in our New York office.
Background:
Andrew Keser is a Senior Product Designer for the core platform at Movable Ink. Before relocating to NYC, Andrew lived in the suburbs of Connecticut where he maintained a backyard orchard and garden that included a small flock of chickens he bought on the internet. When he’s not dreaming of owning a small farm and dog sanctuary, he enjoys spending time in Hoboken, NJ with his fiancé. Andrew strongly believes that any pizza can be a personal pizza if you try hard enough.
What brought you to Movable Ink (besides our fabulous tech recruiter, Emily)?
When I learned more about the team and from a design perspective, the goals of the team and our Head of UX & Design, Andi Mignolo, really drew me in. I felt like I could learn a lot here.
Tell us one thing you’ve learned since you started at Movable Ink.
Almost anything is possible. I’ve been in previously roles where ideas were sometimes shot down out of the gate. Everyone here is very open-minded and willing to explore new things.
Biggest challenge or coolest thing you’re currently working on?
Right now we are building a design system to unify the experience across our entire platform.
What’s the best email you’ve ever received?
The best email I ever received was Spotify’s 2016 year in review. Not only was it interesting to see my listening habits as charts and graphs, but I got to enjoy the corresponding playlist even after I read the email. This wasn’t just an email, it was an immersive experience.
What’s one tidbit that someone would be surprised to learn about you?
I will never forgive Twitter for shutting down Vine!
If you could only listen to one song forever, what would it be and why?
Hotel California by the Eagles because it’s the greatest song.
Where’s your favorite place in greater NYC?
The farmer’s market in Union Square.
Sounds like you like pizza. What does your perfect slice look like?
First, it would never just be one slice. My favorite pizza is from this place in Hoboken that has roasted corn, queso oaxaca, pickled jalapeno crema, and is topped with cilantro and chilies.
