The San Francisco 49ers wanted to promote in-store purchases to a subset of customers who were in close proximity to its Santa Clara and San Francisco Union Square team stores.
The 49ers used Movable Ink to insert a geo-targeted scratch-off offer into its Black Friday email. Instead of extending the offer to every email recipient, the scratch-off only appeared to subscribers who were within 5 miles of a team store. Thanks to the exclusivity of the email promotion and the surprise element of the scratch-off, the 49ers tripled their Black Friday sales and drove foot traffic like they’ve never seen before.
