91% of marketers plan to prioritize customer personalization over the next year listed contextual marketing as one of three trends that will drive B2C ecommerce in 2016. “Strategies that rely on demographics-based segmentation are no longer personal or relevant, thus successful marketers must use messaging that speaks to the consumers as individuals, addressing their immediate personal circumstances and shopping intent.”

The article also says that B2B marketers now expect a B2C-like experience, and predict that companies that don’t provide a personalized customer journey will lose out to those who do.
