If you're using Gmail and aren't seeing real-time content, try refreshing the page. When you leave Gmail open, it remembers what your email looked like the last time it was opened, so simply closing and opening an email isn't going to refresh that content. If you refresh the entire page, Gmail should display up-to-date content.
