What does StarStreet do?

StarStreet is a sports stock market where traders can buy and sell virtual shares of players with real money. It's a lot like E-Trade, but filled with players instead of companies, and it's much like a digital version of sports cards with a market attached. StarStreet is the future of fantasy sports.

How do you use email?

We do a ton of transactional and market-based emails. Traders get notified whenever their trade is matched. We've notice that the days where we IPO new players or retire players we see big jumps in our engagement numbers. About 25% of our traders are active daily with some days jumping up to 65% engagement.

What interested you most about Movable Ink?

I was checking out companies at General Assembly, saw what you were doing, and thought that's awesome for what we're doing! Now that traders receive real time prices in their email they can make their buy/sell decisions right there, rather then having to go back to the site to investigate. This makes the many emails we send way more powerful.

How did you implement Movable Ink?

We are using Movable Ink in our "offer bested" emails. We send notification emails when you place the best order. If that order is beaten we send you another notification email with the new offer price. We use the Web Crop to capture the latest prices from a dynamic web page that we maintain. It was really straightforward and ensures that our traders see real market prices whenever they open the message.

Are you planning on implementing any other real-time features?

We'd love to show traders their current holdings, standings on the leaderboard, changing positions and making all of this live and real-time. We're about to implement many social components and we'd love to see how we can expose this in our emails.

Any other thoughts?

I'm really excited to focus more on our emails based on the engagement we're seeing. Using Movable Ink we can push real-time prices and basically bring our app into email. I'm pysched with what we'll be able to do now. Before Movable Ink this was impossible.
